Second Service was born

🎾Why I Started Second Service:

Giving Tennis Rackets — and People — a Second Shot

Every business has a beginning, and Second Service started with something simple: a love for tennis and a growing frustration at how much perfectly good equipment was being thrown away.

For years, I watched kids turn up to lessons with rackets that were the wrong size — too big, too small, too heavy — but the real problem wasn’t the kids or their families. It was the system.

Rackets were being bought new, used briefly, outgrown quickly… and then shoved into cupboards or, worse, sent to landfill.

Yet the rackets themselves?

They still had so much life left in them.

♻️ The moment it clicked

It hit me when I saw a junior player trying to swing a massive adult racket because it was “lying around at home.”

He was keen, eager, and ready to learn… but the equipment was setting him up to fail. And that’s when I asked myself:

Why isn’t there an easier, affordable, sustainable way for families to keep kids in the right size racket?

And at the same time…

Why are we letting so many rackets go to waste when they could be given a second shot?

That was the seed.

Second Service grew from that one simple idea — that we could do better for kids, for parents, for coaches, and for the planet.

🎾 Making tennis more accessible

Tennis can be expensive.

Kids grow fast.

And families shouldn’t have to buy a brand-new racket every time they hit a growth spurt.

By offering pre-loved, correctly sized rackets, I wanted to remove that barrier.

To make tennis feel welcoming — not overwhelming.

Affordable — not intimidating.

Sustainable — not disposable.

🎾 Doing our bit for the planet

The sports industry contributes thousands of rackets to landfill every year.

Some barely used.

Some used once.

Some outgrown after a term.

Second Service gives them a second life.

A second purpose.

A second chance to make someone smile on court.

Every pre-loved racket sold is one less ending up where it shouldn’t.

💚 Doing something meaningful

This business isn’t just about rackets.

It’s about helping families.

Supporting young players.

Building confidence.

And creating a community that believes in reusing, repurposing, and rethinking the way we consume.

It’s about making a difference — one racket at a time.

🎾 The mission

Second Service exists to:

• Keep pre-loved rackets in play

• Keep kids in the right size racket

• Keep equipment out of landfill

• And give everyone — rackets and players — a second shot
